Biggest French Aerospace competitiveness cluster joins EBN
Aerospace Valley is the most significant innovation “pôle de compétitivité” in France in the field of aeronautics, space and embedded systems. This bi-regional competitiveness cluster covering the two geographically adjacent regions of South-West France, Midi-Pyrénées and Aquitaine gathers over 800 members from industry and research including amongst others more than 400 SMEs as well as large corporate groups and SMEs, major aerospace research establishments, engineering schools and local authorities, all working together to develop synergies propelling the sector into the future.
With 124,000 industrial employees, Aerospace Valley represents around one third of the French aerospace workforce. Similarly, 8,500 researchers and scientists are active within the Aerospace Valley territory, thus representing 45% of French national R&D potential in the aerospace sector.
Aerospace Valley is currently managing the European Space Agency Business Incubation Centre Sud France (ESA BIC Sud France), in association with CNES and Safe Cluster. ESA BIC Sud France supports young companies and new establishments with technical development, implementation and launching of new products and services related to space data or space technologies exploited in other domains.
Within the framework of the general French “pôle de compétitivité” programme, which aims to stimulate employment by fostering local and regional competencies in technical and economic areas, Aerospace Valley strives to create an ambitious 35-40,000 new jobs by the horizon year 2025.
Aerospace Valley is active within the Fabspace 2.0 project as non-academic partners.
