As Head of the Research Development Unit at Coventry University, Sue leads a team of 12 Research Development Executives who deliver tailored dedicated support to academics across 12 Research Centres to build research culture, capability and capacity, including faciliating the generation of high quality research income.  

Prior to this she led a team of 15 Business Development Managers at Coventry University, focused on supporting academics in faculties/schools to generate research income from EU (H2020, FP7), Research Councils, Innovate UK, Charities and Foundations and commercial organisations ranging from major corporates to SMEs.

Sue led the cross University team which established Coventry University Social Enterprise CIC, which since its inception has supported multiple students, staff and academics to establish social enterprise businesses.

Prior to joining Coventry University, Sue was a Director at market leading professional service firms, PwC and Grant Thornton where working with a range of large corporate and public sector clients in the UK and across Europe, she led multidisciplinary projects with overall responsibility for sales and implementation. She has a strong track record of generating sustained income growth, including whilst at PwC, she set up and led the growth of a new consulting business start up, building it from a zero base to grow to £10m sustained turnover. She also identified and spearheaded a cross firm approach into a niche previously untapped entrepreneurial sector generating £2.5m of new sustained income. 

Sue has a research based MBA from Warwick Business School, with a personal research interest in branding.
