Dorijan Marsic was born on 27th of September 1962 in Koper, Slovenia and has achieved a bachelor’s degree in defence studies at the University of Ljubljana. He is currently EBN Board Member representing Slovenia.
Dorijan Marši? started his career as a Secretary for Defence in the Municipality of Koper during the Independence War for Slovenia in 1991 and then as Head of the Regional Headquarters for Civil Protection and director of the Regional Fire Brigade. In the early 90s he was the co-founder and director of a commercial radio station Radio Capris. In 1999 he was appointed as a representative of Slovenia to NATO – EADRCC in Brussels. In 2000 he was elected as a Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Slovenia where he was vice-president of the Parliamentary Defence Committee, Committee for Environment and Infrastructure and member of the European Affairs Committee. In two terms (2004 and 2010) he was appointed as director of the ITF International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (now ITF Enhancing Human Security) and member and vice-president of the Slovenian National Council for Development Cooperation. In 2006 he assumed the positions as director of Student Residencies of the University of Primorska and as acting secretary general of the university.
In 2014 he assumed the position of CEO at the University Development Centre and Incubator of Primorska in Koper and in 2019 he became the director of Inkubator Sežana. He is member of the Slovenian Association of the Technological parks and Incubators.
Among others he lead the PHARE pilot project Strengthening the Management Capacity of the Municipality, microcredit programs for landmine-victims in effected countries, middle and senior management training courses in mine-action, start-up competitions for best innovative ideas, NASA Space Apps Challenge Hackathons (local lead), establishing local Startup Koper Capodistria Platform, Open Innovation in Agri-food sector competition (local lead), HINT LAB EU co-funded project for development of tourism entrepreneurship in rural areas in Slovenia and Croatia and national Program of support innovation and entrepreneurship in Slovenia (SIO 2018-2022), co-financed by public agency SPIRIT Slovenia.
